Our Process

Our Process is designed to make your remodeling experience simple and seamless.

Design Craft Builder uses a time tested 5 step process that provides clients with a smooth and seamless from beginning to end.

We begin with an initial phone consultation, where clients share information about their project(s) with an experienced consultant. This phase ensures that understand your needs in advance of scheduling a visit and allows us to be as prepared as possible to provide the most appropriate and useful information to help you make informed decisions regarding your project(s) before moving on to the next step.

The next step is a site visit when we will gain a thorough understanding of your specific needs, the project space and discuss material and method options that will provide the best results for your project.

The third step is the planning and design phase which takes advantage of years of experience to develop a comprehensive design that aligns with the client’s unique needs and vision.

The construction phase follows. With skilled craftsmen and trade partners and certified construction project managers we ensure that the plan is followed with precision, efficiency and attention to detail. Throughout this stage, open communication channels are maintained to keep clients informed and engaged.

The fourth step is a rigorous quality control process to ensure that we are exceeding expectations.

The fifth and final step is the reveal, where clients see their dream space brought to life.

With a commitment to excellence, transparent communication and unmatched craftsmanship, Design Craft Builder’s remodeling process is a seamless experience that transforms visions into reality.

Our Process

Step 1-Initial Consultation

The first step of Design Craft Builder’s process is an essential initial conversation, designed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s project while establishing a mutually beneficial partnership.

During this phase, an experienced consultant has a basic conversation with the client to understand the client’s vision and unique requirements regarding scope of work, timeline(s) and budget.

This step serves as a platform to assess the compatability the client’s needs and the services offered by Design Craft Builder.

Step 3-Design and Quote

The third step of the process is the design, scope of work and quote phase. this stage is necessary to provide an accurate ‘no surprises” quote which occurs after the client has had the benefit of an expert, on-site consultation and agreed to any applicable design and quote fees.

With commitment to transparency and collaboration, this stage is marked by the creation of detailed and personalized designs, scopes of work and a comprehensive quote tailored to the client’s project.

The client gains ownership of these documents, empowering them to make informed decisions regarding the project’s direction.

This allows the client whether to proceed with Design Craft Builder for the construction phase or opt for another contractor,

By providing clients with ownership of these critical documents, Design Craft Builder ensures transparency, trust and client empowerment throughout the remodeling process.

Step 5-Completion

The fifth and final phase is the completion phase. At this stage, a dedicated project manager will guide the client through a comprehensive review of the completed project, ensuring that every aspect aligns with the initial vision and exceeds the client’s expectations.

The walk-through serves as an opportunity for the client to ask questions, seek clarification, and provide feedback.

During the walk-through, the project manager addresses any questions that the client may have regarding care and maintenance of the newly remodeled space.

Step 2-Site Visit

The second step in our process involves a personalized on-site visit that is scheduled after the initial conversation confirms the alignment between the client’s needs and the services provided by Design Craft Builder. This visit allows the experienced consultant the opportunity to assess the existing conditions of the space and as well as present options and solutions.

An estimate* will be provided which will be a general range of costs based on information known at that time.

In the event that  design will need to be developed in order to accurately quote the project, a design fee will be assessed base on the complexity and value of the project. The total cost of any design fees will be credited to the projects’ final invoice.

Most importantly, this allows the client the opportunity to make an informed decision about moving forward with design (if applicable) and a detailed “no surprises” quote.

Step 4-Construction Phase

The fourth step in our process is the construction phase that signifies the transition from planning to the actual transformation of the client’s space.

This begins with securing all necessary permits and the assignment of dedicated project management professionals to oversee every aspect of the project.

They will manage procurement of materials, organize the project schedule, and oversee day to day activities, including personel management, safety protocols and quality control.

Throughout this process, an open line of communication is maintained, allowing clients to stay informed about project developments, milestones and any matter that may require the client’s attention.

our commitment to transparent communication ensures that the client’s remain engaged and confident as their project takes shape.

Step 1-Initial Consultation

Our process begins with an initial phone conversation, where the clients share information about their project with an experienced consultant.

This step is crucial in ensuring that we understand the full scope and nature of your project, allowing us to prepare thoroughly and provide the most relevant information in advance of the next step, the onsite visit. During the initial conversation, we cover the following key subjects:

  •  Nature of the Project:  Discuss the overall vision and goals for your project
  • Scope of Work:  Identify the nature and extent of work involved
  • Timelines: Discuss timelines, including project start and completion dates
  • Budget: Discuss the budget to ensure that it aligns with your project and budget expectations
  • Compatibility: Determine whether our services and approach are a good fit for your project needs.
  • Efficiency: Ensure that both parties are well informed to avoid unnecessary site visit that will not be fruitful.

Step 2-Site Visit

The second step in our process is an onsite visit with a highly qualified consultant. This step involves a thorough evaluation of your project to ensure that we have all of the necessary details to deliver a responsible quote.

During our visit, we will:

    • Answer Questions and Address Concerns: Provide expert advice and clarify any doubts that you may have about the project.
    • Document Project Details: Collect detailed measurements, photographs and other relevant information to understand specific requirements.
    • Assess Site Conditions: Evaluate the current condition of the space to identify any potential challenge or special considerations.
    • Discuss Project Goals: Revisit the project goals to ensure alignment with the initial consultation.
    • Review Timelines and Budget: Confirm an understanding of the timeline (s) and budget to ensure that they are feasible.

In the event that design will need to be developed in order to accurately quote the project, a design fee will be assessed based on the complexity and value of the project. The total cost of any design fees will be credited to the projects’ final invoice.

Step 3-Design and Quote

The third step of our process involves the preparation of a detailed project plan. To deliver an accurate and responsible project quote, we focus on the following key elements:

  • Accurate Drawings: Precise architectural and design drawings that accurately reflect your vision and expectations.
  • Scopes of Work: Define scopes of work for each aspect of the project to ensure clarity and completeness.
  • Material Selections: Identify all material selections, including finishes, fixtures, and other components.

With complete and accurate information, we are able to provide a “no surprises price” for your project. Additionally having a well-prepared plan is crucial if you intend to seek other quotes, as it enables a fair comparison of different bids, ensuring that you are comparing “apples to apples” This step guarantees transparency and sets the stage for a smooth and predictable process.

Basic concept drawings and estimates are free of cost to ensure an understanding of the project requirements and feasibility.

Once you have determined that our understanding of your project is accurate, our estimate is within the budget, and most importantly, you feel that we are the best fit for your project, we will prepare detailed drawings, scopes of work, and material selections and detailed quote for a fee that is determined by the nature of the project, the complexity of detail, and level of design work required.

Drawings and documents prepared under a paid design agreement will be the sole property of the client, for use to proceed with Design Craft Builder or solicit alternate quotes. In the event that Design Craft Builder is selected for your project, all design fees will be deducted from the final project payment.

Step 4-Construction Phase

The fourth step in our process begins immediately after an agreement is approved and the requisite deposit is made. We ensure that all necessary preparations and approvals are in place before starting the actual work. This includes:

  • HOA approvals (if required): Generally, HOA’s require that homeowner seek approval with documentation provided by the contractor, including drawings, specifications, license(s), and insurance.
  • Permits: Submit applications for any and all required permits and approvals from local authorities.
  • Scheduling: Establish a detailed project schedule, aligned with the project timeline outlined in the agreement.

Upon receipt of the permit(s), the work will proceed according to the established schedule. Key aspects of this phase include:

  • Project oversight: A qualified project manager will oversee all project activities to ensure adherence to the scope of work, schedule, quality and safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Regular inspections and quality checks will be conducted to maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Safety Protocols: Strict safety standards will be enforced to protect the customer, worksite and personnel.

Additionally, we maintain regular communication with the client to ensure a mutual understanding of progress and to address any concerns. This ongoing dialog helps in promptly resolving any issues and ensure that the project remains on track and meets your expectations.

Step 5-Completion

The fifth and final phase is the completion of the project. This phase ensures that every aspect of the work has been finished to your satisfaction and meets all necessary standards. This step includes:

  • Scope of Work Completion: Verify that all tasks outlined in the scope has been completed.
  • Final Inspections: Ensure that all final inspections are conducted and approved by relevant authorities.

Once completion is achieved, the project manager will:

  • Client Walk-Through: Conduct a thorough walk-through with client to review the completed work.
  • Attention to Detail: Address any final details or touch-ups to ensure everything meets the clients expectations.
